Crime

  • The amount of fatal crimes committed in this country, using weapons would have been reduced by a large percentage if some custom officers are not bent on giving the agency a bad name. So in spite of the fact that I am happy that truck was apprehended before it got to the importer, I am saddened that such a container left the port. Who knows how many had left? Can you just imagine what comes in through land borders that are not manned? Don't we see banned products on shelves of supermarkets and in various markets? My friend went to a car shop and bought a car. He went on to register it. On his way to Benin, Custom officers stop him and impound the car. He has proof of payment. So they go to the car dealers shop. And he got his money back. Well not all of it. That's another story. 2 months later, car dealer is back in business. What would it take for custom officers to comb markets and stores. Because just like piracy, these things will continue if government fails to activate the powers of the agencies. And most importantly if those who should do their jobs let things happen and turn a blind eye to wrong things
